Jerry Pallotta is our featured author this school year, and he will be visiting Berg on March 25th. Mr. Pallota has more than 20 alphabet books and has also written several mathematics books that inform and entertain. He also is the author of the well known series Who Would Win. This series pairs two animals together and helps the reader decide who would win in the two animals were to enter into a battle together based on their skills. Mr. Pallotta is the award winning author of many children’s non- fiction as well as imaginative fiction. The books appeal to children of all ages because of the beautiful illustrations, witty text, and accurate descriptions combining interesting facts and detailed research.
The Tdap (Tetanus, Diptheria and Pertussis) vaccine, the Menactra (Meningoccal) vaccine, and the varicella (chickenpox) vaccine are now required for children entering 7th grade. Representatives from Southwest District Health Unit will be administering vaccines on Wednesday, March 18th at Berg for those families who have not met the immunization requirements. Please watch for a mailing from the SWDHU with more information.
Getting ready for Hagen Jr. High is a big step. Sixth graders will have their first explanation about the registration process the last week of February in their classrooms. The students will then bring the registration form home for the parents to review. On March 3rd and 5th there will be a Parent’s Night at Hagen from 7:00- 8:00PM. At this registration night, students should bring their registration forms when they come with their parents. Students and Parents will learn more about which classes may fit their student’s needs as well as learn about extracurricular activities. Students are also welcome to walk around the school with their parents. If you are not able to attend the scheduled Hagen Parents Night, please call Lynelle Urlacher, Berg School Counselor.

Congratulations go out to the school finalists in the Geography Bee. The top ten were Mason Anchondo, Cody Booth, Brodie Eckert, Brylee Farnsworth, Mason Hibbs, Jollis Keith, Nick Maszk, Griffin Obrigewitch, Audrey Oe, and Jaxon Torgerson. Competition for the school crown was held on January 30th, and Audrey Oe prevailed with a tie- break winning answer. Audrey will now take a state qualifying test to determine is she will be invited to participate at the State Geography Bee in Bismarck.
